SOS Provides Ebola Emergency Response Items to Caregivers In Bo



On Saturday, 11th October, SOS gave out Ebola response items to hundreds of caregivers at Ansarul Primary School in New London, Bo.  The Caregivers received disinfectants, food items and they were also sensitized on how to keep themselves and their families safe from the EBola virus. The Assistant Village Director of SOS Children's Village, Bo; Mr. Bangalie who was representing the National Director during the distribution exercise said these items provided to them is to show that SOS is with them and their families during the Ebola outbreak. He also assured them that SOS will continue to support  families who are in need through their Family Strengthening and Food Security Programmes. 
Gbassay, one of the Caregivers present during the distribution process, said with gratitude "I and my family are very grateful to SOS for their support; thank you SOS for helping us during this difficult period.”

National Director Visits Ebola Holding Centers In Makeni

On Wednesday, 8th October, 2014 the National Director of SOS Children’s Villages Sierra Leone, Mr. Olatungie Woode visited Ebola Holding Centers (Africa Muslim Agency Hospital and the Paramedical Hospital) in Makeni . Speaking to the Nursing Supervisor, Madam Marie Theresa-Sheriff, the National Director told her that he was prompted to visit the Ebola Holding Centers to assess the needs and orphan cases at the centers. 

When asked about the challenges they faced at the Holding center, Madam Theresa Sheriff said there are 32suspected Ebola cases including eight children and bed capacity is one of their major problems. She also added that the holding centers are in need of toiletries, clothing, blankets, toys, foods, and Antiseptics.

Mr. Woode assured her that SOS would look into their needs and support them in whatever way they can. He also stated that SOS will look into the orphan cases and see how he will help by bring them into the SOS Children’s Village.”
